(Still crowded, and crowded at the pagoda platform whether it rained heavily or under the bad weather.) People visited to the Shwedagon Pagoda frequently. Paying respect at the foot of the pagoda is one of the ways of Buddhist life. People crowded at the Pagoda platform every time we visited. Practice meditation, offering flowers, candles, incenses or colorful things, or walking on the pagoda platform mostly as keeping the Shwedagon Pagoda at the right side, or praying, etc that Buddhists usually do. Seasonal Flowers, and Bonus Flowers in the Summer 2015

This summer is so hot and there was a hardful warning to everyone from the daily weather report. It said ultraviolet rays have now high radiation. It was dangerous if we were going outside between 11am and 3pm. But wait! There were beautiful nature beauties await us. The seasonal flowers called Kankaw (Mesua Ferrea) blooming in this month. Kankaw flowers are everywhere in the market place, and women love to buy and wear on their head. I also love to buy some Kankaw flowers, and put at our household shrine. (Kankaw flowers in the garden.) Luckily, we met another bonus flowers blooming in this hard weather. This summer might be a lucky month. We met rain and thunder in this hottest month. A Memory of My Grandparents (5) (U) Khin Maung Latt and (Daw) Khin Myo Chit (Writer of Colourful Burma)

Some Part of Their Life and Their Meeting (My grandparents in 1939.) My Grandfather (U) Khin Maung Latt (My grandfather with a smile.) While my grandfather was working as a clerk at Bombay Burma Company, towards the end of 1939 labour troubles grew. The workers of the Burma Oil Company, one of the leading British forms went on strikes. He took part in it although English government did not allow their government workers involved in the uprising. He was forced to quit because of his taking part in riot. Before long he joined the Workers’ Union. I always was heard from my grandpa that when he was working as a clerk in the British government company, they were not allowed the employees reading political books in the working hour. It meant that after the office hour, could read what they liked. Until he was married to my grandma in 1939, he did not get the degree yet. My grandma was not yet graduated too. Book Review – ‘Quest for Peace’ by Khin Myo Chit

--> The collection of Khin Myo Chit’s articles from The Working People’s Daily newspaper in 1964 was now published from Parami publication. This is the first time publication in book form, of one of Khin Myo Chit’s masterpieces. Buddhist’s way of life, memoirs on Sunlun method of meditation, her life story in literary and in wartime, her social life included in this book, and it seemed become her own autobiography. There were 49 articles appeared, and her son, Dr.Khin Maung Win wrote the Preface for the book. It said that before the title ‘Quest for Peace’ was decided, there have been many titles. Her two admirers U Win Pe (Mya Zin), and Mrs Godwine argued between the two titles called ‘Many a House of life Hath Me’ and ‘House of Life’. But they thought those two titles should need explaination. So the simple title, ‘Quest for Peace’ was finally chosen, and the autobiography was serialized in the daily newspaper The Working People’s Daily in 1964. Here is the...

(The cover of 'A Memory of My Grandparents'; My grandparents; U Khin Maung Latt, and Khin Myo Chit (writer)) My grandparents had made friendship with several friends including writers, poets, cartoonists, journalists, politicians, etc. They sometimes recalled their memories what they met friends, or how they struggled during Japanese regime. I hear from them the name they always remembered. Among them, Hanthawaddy U Win Tin (1930 – 2014) was their life long companion. However I says U Win Tin as ‘their old friend’, he was ten years younger than my grandparents. I used to call him ‘uncle’ or sometimes ‘grandpa’ as he himself mentioned to us. It was a peaceful villa, and later became a well-known place where writers, poets, and some politicians spent their time together, and had a free and happy life. (Aye-Yeik-Thar in 1952) From the stories created by the famous humorist Thaw-Dar-Swe, Burmese readers became familiar with the name ‘Aye-Yeik-Thar’. We were also his fan, and his writings so much amused, and fun. He wrote all the Aye-Yeik-Thar members including him and my grandparents as his characters in his stories. He mixed real life stories with his invention. (Aye-Yeik-Thar members, my grandparents in the middle, and their son at front of my grandma.) A Visit to the Burmese Crafts Pwe (Festival)

(Sein Lan So Pyay Garden.) There are 8 nationalities such as Kachin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Myanmar, Shan, Kayin, Kayar all together lived in Burma. Each has their religion, culture, and tradition. It was very difficult to meet all in one place. But on those days of their festival, we had a rare chance to see them all. It was held at the Sein Lann So Pyay Garden at Innya Road, Rangoon, Burma for 3 days in February 2018. Burmese traditional crafts, clothes, souvenirs were launched in the place. (Colourful things were everywhere. The girl performed her talented skill of sewing to public. She was fully confident about her work.) (Women, and men-wears were colourful. The woman with long neck attracted to everyone. Her way of sewing we did not want to miss.) (The girl showed the way of traditional weaving cotton. I was told, you were dead, my dear singer, I heard this bitter news and so to say how sorry I am. I remembered, how often I listened to your songs as the Burmese rhythms and beats, Calm and gentle as a mountain, you speak. Among the hiphop, rap and rock and roll, Your songs were always best and wonderful. ‘MaharSuanThu’(To the Unsympathetic and Insensitive Lass) and ‘MyatThwe’(Pearls) Were your famous lovely songs that I love still and listen in. And now that thou art lying at rest, But still thy pleasant voices alive to eternity, Sad mortality cannot oversway your lovely songs away.
