A Visit To The Shwedagon Pagoda

(Still crowded, and crowded at the pagoda platform whether it rained heavily or under the bad weather.) People visited to the Shwedagon Pagoda frequently. Paying respect at the foot of the pagoda is one of the ways of Buddhist life. People crowded at the Pagoda platform every time we visited. Practice meditation, offering flowers, candles, incenses or colorful things, or walking on the pagoda platform mostly as keeping the Shwedagon Pagoda at the right side, or praying, etc that Buddhists usually do. Sunlun Sayadaw U Vinaya (1914, 5th August Wednesday - 2012 6th October Saturday) (full moon day of WahKaung 1276 in Burmese calendar - 1374) (Sayadaw at 59 years of monkhood.) Childhood Memory I remembered when we went together with our grandparents and our parents to the 7th Mile Gabaraye Sunlun Gukyaung Monastery to practice meditation under the guidance of our venerable Sayadaw U Vinaya, Sayadaw warmly welcomed children and encouraged them to practice meditation like adults. But we could not observe such a hard meditation as adults do. But we learned something about mindfulness since our childhood a little by little. When we grew older, me and my twin brother went to the Sunlun monastery by bicycles where our Sayadaw U Vinaya resided, and practiced meditation once per week. My Life Will Go On (37) - Those 18 Days

(Sunlun Vipassana Meditation Centre, 7th Miles, today) There are three meditation sessions daily at 7 A.M in the morning, at 12:30 noon, at 6 P.M in the evening at the Sunlun Vipassana Meditation Centre, 7th Miles. The people could come at the time they liked and practised meditation. At every session we had to sit still for 100 minutes (50 minutes for breathing (in and out) hard, and another 50 minutes for watching the sensation of pain on the body. (I wrote in detail about the Sunlun Method of Vipassana Meditation under the labels concerned.). I went there to practice meditation 2 or 3 times per week regularly with my father at the morning session under the guidance of Sunlun Sayadaw U Wara, and the watchful eyes of the meditation masters. My brother also did meditation after his work for 90 minutes every night at home. He said doing meditation in the monastery is better than doing meditation at home. Seasonal Flower in Rainy Season

(Wa-zou-ban flowers in rainy season. Very rare to see Purple colored Wahso in Rangoon.) Especially flowering in the rainy season, Wa-zou-ban (herbaceous plants) are sold every corner of the market. People love to buy them, and offered at their household shrines. Its color was mixed with white and orange. It looks like a bell, and hung beautifully by its pattern. Bearing purple blossoms was a rare to see in Rangoon, we can call it ‘country Wa-zou-ban’. (Wa-zou-bans are popular and have best attraction in the market place.) Wa-zou-bans are easy to plant in the garden. Its stem can be grown naturally in the soil. We can plant again and again their stems, and it will grow, and increase in the next rainy season, or sometimes it quickly blossoms if it gets water enough. (Easy to grow in the garden.)

Their Background and Their Families (My grandparents in 1954) My Grandpa – (U) Khin Maung Latt (My grandpa in 1936.) My grandfather (U) Khin Maung Latt was born in 1915, 26 th August at Monywa, Upper Burma.
