The full moon day of Wah-Kaung (7th August of 2017) was the day Sunlun Sayadaw U Vinaya 103th birthday. He would be 103 of age if still alive. Sunlun Sayadaw U Wara held Sayadaw’s birthday at Sunlun monastery. Buddhists attended, and participated the alms giving ceremony. There were 15 monks were present the alms-giving ceremony.

(People were waiting with gifts.)

One could offer any gifts to each monk when monks went forth to the way where Buddhists were waiting. We prepared gifts including yellow robe, or slippers, or books, or pen, or soap, or toothbrush, etc. For one item, we bought fifteen articles, because there were 15 monks attended.

(Monks accepted gifts.)

When monks were coming had a bowl to receive alms, we performed alms-giving ceremony to each monk. It was an amazing chance to all of us. My grandma always said that going to the alms-giving ceremony, and offering gifts to the monks was the great opportunity to all the Buddhists. Do not miss it if you had that chance.

After doing the deed of merit, and we all were saying Well-done (Sadhu) three times. It was the act of sharing our good deed to others. One gained the same amount of merit as we do.
