Life and Soul of the University

When we turned to the University Avenue from Pyay Road, we easily
noticed the left hand side of it was Adipide Road. We saw the entrance
of the gate into the University. Adipide Road was a very long road and
it took 20 minutes walk from the gate to the end. Everyone was surely
pleased walking along the road. I did not know why it was not boring
even when we walked alone. At the end of the road, there was a
Convocation Hall. Before we reached the Convocation Hall, there was a
'thit Poke Pin' (I have already posted about that tree.) which was
right hand side of the Adipide Road.
The Convocation Hall looked like an ancient building. It was located
in the University at the end of the Adipide Road. If we went straight
to the Adipide Road, we could see this building so far at the end of
it. Adipide road was a very popular symbol among University students.
We dreamt this road a lot before we reached the University. We heard
in many love songs composed as ' We two together once walked along
Adipide, it was very romantic….'. If we translated 'Adipide' into
English, it meant 'Chancellor'.
All the University students surely attended the convocation after
finished their degree. When we attended the convocation by wearing
Gown honorably and obtained our official certificate from respectable
professors. On the convocation day, the University students loved to
take the photos before the Convocation Hall. The lawn before the hall
was crowded with their parents and relatives. We all loved to take the
photos together.
Convocation Hall looked like an ancient building. It was built since
1920. The celebration for the Diamond Jubilee of the University was
held in December 1995. It was celebrated for all the remarkable
buildings and notable icons of our University. It was held for a week
and all the old or new University students came and joined the
celebration. It was a historic representation for all the generations.
The building seemed old and its original white paints were now losed
color. I wondered other buildings in the University Campus were all
repainted yearly. But our Convocation Hall was not repainted. It was
still a mystery to us. So, our honorable Convocation Hall was an
ancient building as old as it was built since 1920.

  1. yes..that's mystery to all of us. But I thank to ( them) for not daring to paint as they like.

And I wonder what makes its surface with these little fissures.
